Bunches of Cookies
Author: J H McIntosh
Cookies are cooked or baked foods that are commonly small, smooth, and sweet. Ingredients generally include flour, egg, sugar, and some type of fat, oil, or butter. Cookies may include additional ingredients such as raisins, currants, chocolate, oats, cranberries (and other dried fruits), nuts, butter cremes, chocolate or butterscotch chips, peanut butter, coconut, etc.
Some like their cookies baked until crispy. The smoothness of the cookie depends in some measure on how long it is baked. Reducing the baking time yields a softer cookie. Cookies come in many different styles and types because of the vast variety of ingredients that can be added in the preparation.
At Cookie Bunch we love cookies so passionately we created a place where you (as a cookie lover) can write about your favorite cookies, sell cookies you make, and watch hundreds of cookie-making tutorials. We even added tools that help you monetize your passion, not only for the types of cookies described below but for any kind of cookie.
The Variety of Cookies Is Endless (Almost)
One of the most popular cookies in the world is the Black and White Cookie. The surface of the cookie looks like two half-moons. It’s a round cookie iced or frosted on one half with chocolate and the other half with vanilla frosting. Black and white cookies are a centerpiece of New York City shops and bakeries. Boasting a super soft texture, these big cake-like cookies are covered with thick vanilla and chocolate icings.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
A chocolate chip cookie is a drop cookie that features chocolate morsels or chocolate chips. Drop cookies get their name from how the cookie dough is transferred from the mixing bowl to the cookie sheet. The cookie maker takes a spoonful of dough and drops it on the sheet. Chocolate chip cookies are generally made with white sugar or brown sugar (sometimes both), salt, flour, eggs, and a leavening agent such as baking soda or baking powder. Plus, some kind of fat (usually butter), vanilla extract, and chocolate pieces. Some recipes also include nuts (such as chopped walnuts) and milk in the dough. These cookies are favored by children of all ages.
The Sugar Cookie was initially called the Nazareth Sugar Cookie. German Protestants who immigrated to the United States and settled in Nazareth, Pennsylvania improved the recipe. When they formed the dough, they made the cookies resemble the state’s keystone emblem. Sugar cookies are usually decorated with sugar, icing, sprinkles, or a combination of these products.

Butter Cookies are usually known as Sablés and Danish biscuits. These are delicious cookies consisting of butter, flour, and sugar. Butter cookies have a higher portion of butter than most other cookies. The quantity of flour and sugar is also increased which means they will carry their shape and quality better than a shortbread. Butter cookies are super for cutting and rolling into shapes, offer a sturdier surface, and tend to ship well.
An Oatmeal Cookie is a type of drop cookie made from an oatmeal-based dough. Ingredients include eggs, flour, sugar, salt, and spices. An oatmeal cookie is one of the most popular and desired cookies in the United States because of the health benefits associated with oatmeal and they taste great.
Coconut Cookies are a great source of vitamin B6. They are rich in fiber and medium-chain triglycerides. MCTs are easier to digest because the molecules are smaller than those in most of the fats we eat, i.e. long-chain triglycerides (LCT). This makes them easier to quickly absorb into your bloodstream and become available as usable energy. This can improve heart health, digestion, and weight loss. Coconut is high in saturated fat and calories, so we consume it in moderation. Coconut in cookies does add something special to the taste.

Biscotti, also known as cantucci are Italian almond biscuits that originated in the Tuscan city of Prato. Usually oblong-shaped, dry, crunchy (because they are twice-baked), and often dipped in a drink, traditionally Vin Santo (a sweet dessert wine also indigenous to Tuscany). In the U S it is more common to dip a biscotti into a hot drink like coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. If you don’t mind baking something twice, biscotti is relatively easy to make. Biscotti are healthy, satisfying, and relatively light. One of the best qualities is that they are lower in fat and sugar than other cookies. The ingredient list typically includes a generous number of heart-healthy nuts. They travel well and have a long shelf life.
The Madeleine is a traditional tiny sponge cake. These are distinctive, shell-like shapes resulting from being baked in pans with shell-shaped depressions. A good thing about madeleines from a health perspective is that they are low in sodium. Having too much sodium increases the chances of diseases and increases your risk of kidney failure, not to mention heart attack and stroke. Madeleines, to that extent, are heart-healthy.
Naters are characterized by a golden color and the sweet taste of pineapple. These pineapple cookies are also called Kue Nastar. This popular and amazing traditional sweet has a prominent place in the Chinese New Year celebration. Nasters are awesome in taste and the texture is also super. And a much better use of pineapple than on a pizza.
A macaroon is a small cake or cookie, basically made from ground almonds, coconut, or other nuts with sugar and sometimes flavorings, glace cherries, food coloring, jam, chocolate coating, etc. The combination of Macaroons is sometimes baked on edible rice paper which is placed on a baking tray.
